Supporting Orphans & Children
Providing care, safety and a stable future for children at the Haven of Hope children’s home in Lipova, Romania — helping meet their day-to-day living costs and long-term care.
Lipova, Romania & Lăpușna, Moldova
We relieve poverty and hardship among children, families and older people in two communities — working hand in hand with trusted local partners we have known for over twelve years.
Who We Are
“Bunătate” means kindness in Romanian. It is the whole of what we try to do.
We are a small, volunteer-run Christian charity based in Okehampton and Exeter, Devon. Our faith is why we do this work, but our help is given on need alone — it never depends on anyone’s beliefs or on attending church.
We don’t run projects of our own overseas. Instead we support two local partners who know their communities far better than we ever could: the Haven of Hope children’s home in Lipova, Romania, and Emanuel Church in Lăpușna, Moldova.
How We Serve
We work in partnership with local churches and organisations to deliver practical, life-changing support.
Providing care, safety and a stable future for children at the Haven of Hope children’s home in Lipova, Romania — helping meet their day-to-day living costs and long-term care.
Delivering food, hygiene items and other essentials, bought locally and taken to people’s homes — because dignity starts with having your basic needs met.
Walking alongside families in crisis in Lăpușna, Moldova, with practical help that brings stability through the hardest seasons.
Visiting older people living alone without support in Lăpușna with Emanuel Church, bringing food, essentials and company to their door.
Where We Work
We work in two countries, partnering with trusted local organisations so our support is rooted in the communities we serve.

Home to the Haven of Hope children’s home — our primary partner in Romania. We fund ongoing care for the children, and our vetted volunteers make short visits to join in games and activities alongside the home’s staff.

Working alongside Emanuel Church, our base and partner, we serve one of Moldova’s most disadvantaged communities — delivering aid directly to families and older people in their homes.
Our home base in Okehampton and Exeter — where we fundraise, host Romanian and Moldovan cultural evenings, and vet the volunteers who travel with us.
How We Work
Local people lead. We back two partners we know well, give for specific purposes, and check how funds are used.
Help goes to whoever needs it. It is never conditional on faith, belief or attendance.
Volunteers are vetted and briefed, always work alongside partner staff, and follow our safeguarding policy.
Every trip is risk-assessed and follows UK Foreign Office travel advice. We don’t go where it advises against travel.

Summer 2026 · Fundraising
Two Okehampton friends, aged 8 and 9, set out to raise £250 so every child at Haven of Hope could have a special day out during this summer’s Friendship Camp.
They made and sold homemade fudge, ran the Okehampton Parkrun 5k in fancy dress, and designed their own mugs, bottles and bags — and went past their target. Thank you to everyone who cheered them on.
